TIME

Project Prompt
Books are inherently a time-based, even cinematic medium: both visually, from spread to spread, going forward towards the next scene; but also the duration that it takes to turn each of the pages from its beginning to its end. Although books are a vehicle that essentially captures time, there are many other art forms that express the nature of time poetically. In this assignment, design a project that is a good leaping point in the trajectory of your work, that essentially embodies the essence of time.

Choose one or two artists that you feel use time in an compelling way. Share these with the class as a powerpoint or pdf on January 31st.

Project Guidelines
  • Create thumbnail sketches of several ideas, then narrow it down to one or two with rough sketches to share in class January 17th.
  • Decide on a method of creating your piece, create a maquette, more developed sketch and/or a dummy
  • Take comments into consideration, making final adjustments.
  • A Project Statement will need to be printed out for our critique.
