Typographic Narrative
PROJECT PROMPT
As much letterpress inherently utilizes typography—think of ways that you can manipulate or exaggerate typographic forms to illustrate or convey meaning. This can be done in a multitude of ways, whether building images with letter forms, borders, and ornaments, or playing with or distorting meaning by use of repetition, color or lack thereof, juxtapositions, or punctuation. Language can be in the forefront or take the back seat with this project, but use it as a springboard for inspiration.
GUIDELINES
1. Start conceptually, brainstorming ideas about how you may interpret ideas using typography.
2. Narrow it down to one or two ideas and develop a sketch and/or mock-up.
3. Take comments into consideration, making final adjustments
4. Be resourceful with time and planning, coming in outside of class if necessary to pace yourself with completing it.
