Eva Chen From the class, we saw the teddy bear collection, which impress me, because it makes me feel do dark. I always believe that collecting should be interesting thing for people, because it is very personal and memorable to people. Thus, I believe Jim Golden did that. Jim Golden is a photographer, and his style is very clear which people may already saw it before. He used simple color background for his objects, but also bring the colors from objects. However, color matched and balance colors for viewers are hard skills for many humans, but his project just perfect works together. He also work with some famous brands, like Nike and Adidas. Thus, people may feel familiar with his work, and he is the one to lead advertising photography style today. From his project called scissor is his favorite one, it reminds him how cool this item for him. Scissor can use on to build and make son many things, like shoes and sportswear. It can make things from small to big. Yet, scissor also includes his childhood memories; thus it was a huge creative turning for his commercial photography. In his collection projects, he was not only collect objects, he also collect colors form objects to make a different piece of photography. As we see from is his still live photo, the picture looks so healing, because he collect them by colors and row them regularly. His works are not really fine art, but they are combining art and design together. Yet, while you are looking at his work, you may consider these pieces might be advertising as well which I think it is interesting for people to think a different way about art and design. Paragraph. Another artist is Christian Boltanski, and he is born in 1944. Christian Boltanski is a sculptor, photographer, painter and filmmaker. His projects always talk about life, memories, soul, and death around humans, and his best well know about his work is his style of photography. His work often related with photos, pieces of clothing, bells, flowers, etc. He prefer to use little these objects and sounds to create a scenario for people. One of his project called Faire-part which just show up few years ago, and it is very amazing project. He uses different way to show the photography. He uses two large installations to display photography on cotton materials, and hanging in room. Viewers can actually walk in the space that he created for people and feel it. Faire-part is a project talking how time flies from human begin until dead. This work makes people to consider the meaning of life. Lower transparency of family’s photography that people should look up carefully. Christian Boltanski wants people to walk in the space and think about families of themselves; also the memories between people and photographs. However, people may feel photo is different than their memories, but it must have some similar way to match both memories including viewers’ and photos’. This piece is record that how many seconds he already lived. In another room, his gives a peaceful idea for people to think about “Soul.” Sources: https://jimgoldenstudio.com/Portfolio/Overview/thumbs https://blog.bigcartel.com/photographer-jim-golden-on-process/ https://www.wired.com/2013/09/this-photographer-is-a-high-class-hoarder/ https://www.featureshoot.com/2013/02/photos-of-graphic-and-meticulous-still-life-collages/ http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artists/christian-boltanski-2305 https://www.mariangoodman.com/exhibitions/faire-part http://moussemagazine.it/20-years-marian-goodman-paris/ http://www.aestheticamagazine.com/christian-boltanski-faire-part-marian-goodman-paris/ https://www.galleriesnow.net/shows/christian-boltanski-faire-part/

The project Faire-part by Boltanski reminds me of a personal smaller collection of photos and collage that my grandmother put together. There wasn't a solidified intention to her creation, but the feelings that her work inspired within our family, was pretty similar to what Boltanski is trying to achieve with his own project. The meaning of life and the inevitable death that all faces us is always interesting to consider. I wonder what inspired him in going this direction with his work.

Hi Eva, nice research project. I also really enjoy the artist Christian Boltanski. I think that the way he incorporates mixed media is genius. I had never seen his piece that you posted where it counts how many seconds he has lived - that one is amazing!

All these images you have presented have a very personal and familiar feel to them. Christian Boltanski's work feels so familiar and foreign at the same time, which draws me to it even more. The way he plays with lights to create a mood that matches the images is so simple but done so perfectly. Thank you for teaching me about these lovely artists and their work!

It seems like both of them have some sort of life faith in their hearts. They try to explain and display what is important in their comprehension of living. Jim Golden's work reminds me my childhood, full of playful and colorful objects, I can always feel free to imagine and create. Christian Boltanski's work is more poetic to me, I like the way he present pictures on white and translucent fabric, like spirit or ghost floating in the air. Thanks for sharing these elegant works.
